Our Goal:

To assist off-reserve Aboriginal Peoples and youth of those families in Nova Scotia to realize and achieve employment, training and upgrading towards ending dependence on government income assistance.

Serving:

All rural and urban Off-reserve Aboriginal Peoples, families and youth of those families receiving government income assistance in Nova Scotia.

How We Help:

Identifying client immediate needs and situation while respecting and maintaining confidentiality.

Help clients develop and commit to an action plan. Supply clients with current information on community colleges, universities, specialized training courses and upgrading courses.

Help clients access supportive resources (ie: finding possible funding for education, training, daycare, transportation, etc.).

Support and encourage clients to make well informed, independent decisions.

Assist clients to develop or update their resumes.

Provide alternatives for clients education or training paths by providing clients with up-to-date labour market information.

Advocate on the clients behalf to organizations which may be able to assist clients in achieving their goals.

On Thursday July 27, 2017 Chief Grace Conrad will host a Native Council of Nova Scotia Grassroots Presentation at the Digby Superstore in the Community room.
The Grassroots Presentation is an opportunity to learn more about the programs and services the Native Council of Nova Scotia has to offer, and how they can benefit individuals.
Please let zone members or people that you think would benefit from this session know. We look forward to seeing everyone there. These sessions are open to the public as well as Native Council of Nova Scotia Members.
