The Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS), the Self-Governing Authority for Mi’kmaq/ Aboriginal Peoples residing Off-Reserve in present day Nova Scotia, throughout traditional Mi’kmaq Territory of Mi’kma’ki, recently attended the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) 47th Annual General Assembly on September 21st and 22nd, 2018 at the Marriott, in Ottawa, Ontario.
The NCNS had 9 delegates attend CAP’s Annual General Assembly, including the Chief and President, Lorraine Augustine, a youth representative, an elder representative, and 6 board of directors.
Chief Augustine was ratified to the Board of Directors for CAP to represent the Native Council of Nova Scotia at a National level, to advocate for Indigenous Peoples living Off-Reserve.
