Renewed CAP-Canada Political Accord

December 12, 2018 (Truro, NS) ─  The Native Council of Nova Scotia’s (NCNS) National organization, The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) has signed a renewed Political Accord with the federal government last Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in Ottawa, ON; Chief Lorraine Augustine, of the NCNS, was also present during the process as a member of CAP’s Board of Directors.

November 19, 2018 (Truro) ─ The Native Council of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that they will be holding Collaborative Process meetings in regards to “Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act in response to the Superior Court of Quebec decision in Descheneaux c. Canada (Procureur général).”

If you are a Non-Status Indian, find out how the Descheneaux decision may affect you or someone you know be eligible to be registered as a status Indian by attending a meeting.

The Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS), the Self-Governing Authority for Mi’kmaq/ Aboriginal Peoples residing Off-Reserve in present day Nova Scotia, throughout traditional Mi’kmaq Territory of Mi’kma’ki, recently attended the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) 47th Annual General Assembly on September 21st and 22nd, 2018 at the Marriott, in Ottawa, Ontario.
